On April 6 our studio will participate with an elite group of photographers around the country in a very special portrait promotion. On that day we will be providing a wonderful opportunity for you to update portraits of yourself and any family members you wish. In doing so, you will help to support Operation Smile, which provides free surgeries for children around the world who suffer with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.

 

Along with other members of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), we are offering the gift of an individual portrait session and a desk-size (5x7) portrait in exchange for a $24 donation to PPA Charities, which has chosen Operation Smile as its charitable partner. For every 10 individuals we photograph, another child will receive the gift of surgery! It costs as little as $240 for Operation Smile’s medical volunteers to provide a life-changing surgery that can take as little as 45 minutes. One hundred percent of each donation will go to Operation Smile.

 

We also believe that our Celebration of Smiles Day is a wonderful way to teach children the value of reaching out to others. Even small children can understand the importance of Operation Smile’s work, and they are eager to help these needy children. Now that I have covered up those crazy bright colors, it is starting to look more like a studio. I still need to do some touching up on the edges and especially the door. The next step will be to start to move my equipment in. By that time it should really start to really take shape.

First thing's first, and that is paint. I think this will be a great place to get started with a studio and I am surrounded by so many great artists in the Pendleton Art Center. I went in to check it out on Saturday and everyone there was so welcoming. I think this is going to be a great environment to work in. It already feels like I am part of an art community and I haven't even gotten started in the studio yet. This is going to be awesome!

The fog was very thick on the trail to Ash Cave in Hocking Hills. This was my first time visiting Hocking Hills. I did not realize there was a place like this in Ohio. I must say now that I have been there, I need to take advantage of its location more often. I could see endless opportunities for some great photography. If you haven't been there, I highly recommend going. It does not disappoint.
